Biography

West Palmdale Christian Church, under the leadership of Dr. John H. Paxton (Pastor), established the Anointed Steps of Praise in 1998.  In the early stages of the praise team’s existence, they were “the praise dancers”.  As they embarked on their gifts, other ministries began to request the group to minister at their services and special events.  Each time they would ask, “What is the name of the group?”   Subsequently, members of West Palmdale Christian Church voted on a name for the group, with several names suggested.  However, one Sunday morning in 2005, something different happened.  That day, their dance was angelic and heart-felt, it was obvious the youth were finally stepping into their anointing; thus, the name “Anointed Steps of Praise”. 

 The Anointed Steps of Praise (ASOP), under the direction of Crystal Ellis, is comprised of male and female youth and young adults ranging from 10-21 years of age.  ASOP is an outreach of dancers, fulfilling the purpose of God, and led to minister at a variety of churches, city sponsored youth events, colleges, and just recently won first place in the AV Annual Fair Parade.  Ministries blessed by their anointing span from California to Michigan. 

 The purpose of the Anointed Steps of Praise is to minister to the multitude by praising and worshiping our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, through the art of creative expression, dance, and sign language.  ASOP sends a message of healing, deliverance, and encouragement to observers while giving God all the Glory.  

ASOP’s prayer to God:  “Lord, we thank You.  We cherish Your precious gifts, and the anointing You have placed on our lives!  We give You the Glory!  Father, continue to bless all of the members of the Anointed Steps of Praise and all who witness Your anointing through us, in Jesus’ name,  Amen.”
