A MESSAGE FROM THE FIRST LADY

"Determine to Win in 2010"

This word from God is not for those who are still seeking God for things or for selfish gain. This is for those of us, who have been on a battle field fighting for a while and you feel like hanging up your uniform of being a Christian. My word is to be “Determine to win in 2010.” Determine means: to decide on, establish or settle, or bring about as a result, according to Webster’s New Dictionary. I like the latter definition, “Bring about as a result.” Win over your inner struggles that haunt you. Win over the spirit of doubt and fear. Win over the things that plagued you in 2009; bring about a result.

Some of us in 2009 lost our hope and confidence in the Word of God and began to walk back into the spirit of bondage. In Galatians 4:9 Paul says to the churches of Galatia, “But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?” In other words, Christ brought us out of our bondages so why are we putting ourselves back into them? We do this by allowing the spirit of doubt, fear and lack of faith and trust in the Word of God, why do we want to go back? Be determined not to go back but determine to win. Yes, we were shaken in 2009. I believe this was the will of God to get our attention and to guide us back to the things that really matter, our relationship with God and He being the most important thing in our lives. God is shaking us and exposing our weights and sins and we better start listening to Him and what He is saying and doing.

The hardest time in the process of bearing a child is a place commonly named transition. Oh, I can remember when I went into transition with my first child, Le Anne. I had checked into the hospital at 10:00pm after my water had broken during our Friday night service. I had arrived and was checked in and hooked up and things were going so smoothly. There was so much joy and anticipation of the first grandbaby of my family. But then all of a sudden, a change began to take place. I began to feel very uncomfortable, pain and contractions were coming closer and closer (sound familiar?) I began to speak very sharply with those who were around. I even told my Mother to shut up! My attitude, mood and disposition changed. For some of us we are in transition and God is getting ready to bring forth a new life from within us and that’s why things in 2009 were disturbed. Wait on God to bring you through your delivery. Don’t get distracted by the pain and sudden changes that you have been facing but realize that something new is on the horizon. Get up weary Christian, shake the dust off yourself and become determined to win.
